Amish Friendship Bread: Day 6
Posted by michelle on December 7, 2004 01:03 PM

I came home from work today, this exciting day of actual bread activity, to find the bag of starter in the middle of my family room floor. The kitties, of course. Augh. I thought I hid it well among the appliances and other random stuff on my kitchen counter, but apparently not. Luckily, the bag only suffered some flesh wounds and the batter appears unharmed.

Back in the kitchen, I poured the starter into a glass (not metal!) bowl and continued the task for Day 6. One cup each of sugar, flour and milk went into the bowl and I stirred with a wooden (not metal!) spoon. Now, I'm not exactly sure what the significance of using non-metal utensils is, but I really did wish I had a wooden whisk I could've gotten rid of the small flour lumps with. I suppose it won't matter by the time another 4 days go by.

So now the batter sits in a covered bowl on my counter. It is much much harder for two kittens to drag away a bowl. I hope.
